From the earliest days, Vaughtons has run on the foundations of craftsmanship and service, and we remain true to these traditions today. The company was founded in 1819 by Philip Vaughton, and has been in family ownership of some kind since then. It began listed as a ‘Buttonmaker, Medalist and Mint’ and continually moved forward to all areas of Gold-smithing and Silver-smithing, including Automotive badges.
Howard Vaughton, the grandson of Philip Vaughton, was an Aston Villa and England football player from 1880 – 1888. An injury forced him to retire, and so he came back to silversmithing and running the family firm. It was Howard’s great ties with the sporting world that helped gain some of Vaughtons most prestigious work such as the FA Cup, and the 1908 Olympic Medals.
Still in family ownership, Steve and Linda Hobbis bought Vaughtons in 2005 ,and it has successfully grown since then. The company has faithfully maintained the standards of quality, attention to detail and service that were set three centuries ago. We have built on these foundations and have developed complimentary skills to become one of the foremost names in manufacture.
